Okay....here's the deal. Eagles weren't so great this year. It was actually worse than the year that they went 6-10 because of the fact that in that year, the birds had a number of Eagles that were hurt and this year we had alot of the players finish out the season.. If you don't remember, Tra Thomas, Lito Sheppard, Jevon Kearse, Brain Dawkins, Brain Westbrook and Donavan McNabb all missed significant time on the field and we finished the season with Mike McMahon behind center. So here are some free agents in the off season that I would love to target.
DE-Jared Allen. This fine gentlemen had 16 sacks this year in only 12 games. He is 25 turning 26 next year. And he certainly will fit the Philly culture well due to his drinking problem that kept him off the field the first 4 games.
CB-Asante Samuel- That's right. I said it. The big time corner back from the PATSIES. I know the Eagles won't over pay for a guy like this. But what did we see this season in the offensive side of football. PASSING, PASSING, AND MORE PASSING!! This guy is an elite shutdown corner back that could allow sheldon to move to safety and allow lito to face the number 2 receivers in the league.
Guard- Alan Faneca- Imagine this line next year. William "Tra" Thomas, Alan "Smack My" Fancea, Jamal Jackson "5", Shawn "The Big Kid" Andrews, and Jon "Paul" Runyan. That is a stud line. When Runyan retires, kick Andrews out to tackle, and put Jean Giles at guard and when Thomas leaves put Justice out at tackle. I guy like Alan Faneca will allow us to run to the left side just sa much as we do to the right.
Go ahead. Laugh it up. But I have a feeling the Eagles see a need at all 3 positions(in the order that I listed them) and as long as we get rid of Kearse and Howard, we should have enough money to sign all 3. My bold prediction of the year is that we sign 2 of the 3.
